Sync Sequencer to DAW

4 min · Setup & troubleshooting · USB MIDI required

Why the sequencer won’t lock to your project — and the exact settings that fix it.

Three things have to line up: USB MIDI rather than DIN, the clock source switched away from internal in Synthtribe, and master sync enabled on the output side in your DAW. If the sequencer syncs but refuses to start, that’s a separate setting — start/stop messages, or the pre-count in FL Studio. Also covers the tempo knob becoming a division control once the sequencer is externally clocked.

Tip: Update Synthtribe first. The tempo-knob-as-divider feature is a recent addition — on older firmware the knob simply does nothing once you’re externally clocked.
